Madha Gaja Raja was initially announced way back in 2012 january. It was thought that Vishal will be seen in three roles. Female lead was initially samantha ruth prabhu,shruthi haasan and hansika, but due to thier busy schedule they could not do the film. Later karthika nair was approcahed for the same but due to some reasons the film makers finally roped in Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and Anjali. Madha Gaja Raja movie is an out and out entertainer with action. Vishal previously done many mass masala action films and now came up with this comedy flick though his previous movies were not upto the mark. But vishal as an excellent with his matured acting skills and can perform any roles with ease and excellence. He is allrounder in all categories.

Initially karthika nair was placred as a love interest to vishal who is playing triple role for the 1st time in his career. But karthika got out of project citing that script has been changed completely and vishal will play only single role. She was replaced by Anjali soon. Later tapsee pannu was approached for Varalakshmi role and she too stepped out. After many hurdles finally movie successfully completed shooting and ready for release, Movie is clashing with Hindi releases too in the form of Azhar, DearDad,BuddhaInATrafficJam, Pele , MoneyMonster, Criminal, MyBigFataGreekWedding2, Khel To Abb Shuru Hoga and Chudail Story (2016).
